SARWAT KHAN · ARTIST & FOUNDER
My work is a fusion of faith, contemporary design, and storytelling.
Assalamu alaikum, I’m Sarwat — a Chicago-based artist and the founder of Glam Islamic Art. My love for Allah is at the heart of my work. Through calligraphy, colour, and sculptural texture, I create pieces that carry beauty, reflection, and a personal connection to faith.
My artistic journey spans more than 25 years, across abstract, minimal, conceptual, impressionist, calligraphy, and mixed-media work. I studied at the McAninch Arts Center in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and my practice continues to bring those different influences together.
I love the way a surface can hold a story. Gold leaf, gemstones, crystals, and layers of texture give the work physical depth; the words and intention give it meaning.
Some pieces are quiet and restrained. Others are expressive, colourful, and full of movement. Each is created with intention, shaped around the space it will belong to and the meaning it will carry.
For me, a commission is a shared story. Your room, your colours, and the words that matter to you become part of an original piece — something personal, made by hand, with heart.

Behind the finished artwork is time spent with the surface — a brush, a careful hand, and another layer of detail.
This is a little glimpse of me at work. The calligraphy and texture take shape slowly, with the finished space and the intention of the piece in mind.
YOUR COMMISSION
A meaningful piece should feel considered. We begin with your ideas, then work through the details together.
A wall photograph, measurements, your room’s colours, and a verse or phrase you love are a lovely place to start. It’s also fine to come with an open mind.
We discuss the composition, calligraphy, materials, and scale. The quote and expected timing are agreed for your particular piece.
Your piece is created by hand, with each layer and detail developed around the direction we’ve chosen together.
For a home, a meaningful gift, or a hospitality interior.

Yes. Send a photograph of your wall and the colours, finishes, or furniture you’d like the artwork to complement. We can discuss the palette, scale, and overall feeling together.
Share the verse, dua, or Islamic phrase you have in mind. The wording and composition are discussed as part of planning your piece. If you’re unsure, we can begin with the meaning you want the artwork to carry.
Please include your location and any preferred date in your inquiry. Creation time, packing, delivery arrangements, and costs are discussed for your specific piece before the commission is confirmed.
